Titanium Dioxide
Titanium Dioxide is a natural mineral that is used in most cosmetics and skincare as a sunscreen, shielding the skin from UVA and UVB rays. Renowned for its gentleness, this mineral is particularly well-suited for individuals with sensitive or redness-prone skin.
Titanium Dioxide is often called a 'physical sunscreen', as it sits on top of the skin, reflecting sunrays away like a ‘mirror’. To integrate it into cosmetic formulations, the mineral needs to be broken down into smaller particles, known as micronisation. This also allows the ingredient to be easier applied to skin, because it would otherwise be like a ‘thick’ paste. Micronised Titanium dioxide is also more stable, ensuring more robust sun protection.
Micronized Titanium dioxide doesn’t absorb into the skin, which means it can’t get into your body unless it is ingested. This means that you will be getting a good sun protection without causing any risk of harm to your skin or body.
